“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.”

– Stephen Hawking

This image from The Hubble Space Telescope shows stars being born (among other things).

On Time? No. On Budget? No. On Spec? Er, No.

The story of Hubble’s own birth reads like a disaster story: 7 years overdue, a billion (or 2) over budget and unable to focus (not good if you’re human, catastrophic if you’re a space telescope). ‘Hubble Headlines’ were some of the earliest negative media coverage I can remember. Now those headlines are gone, replaced by a greatly enhanced understanding of the universe and some truly spectacular images.
