The ‘Giving Chair’ Student Brief
This year 10 students will come to The Do Lectures for Free.
Their places paid for by 10 giving companies.
Although the ticket is Free, you will have to work very hard for it.
Your film will have to stand out, which is never easy.
You will be expected to make a film, take pictures, and conduct interviews of attendees and speakers at the event.
And then afterwards, just when you thought you were done, you will have to go and give a talk at the company who paid for your talk.
Yes, it will be hard work, but it will also be one of the most amazing weekends of your lives.
Happy filming,
Things to do.
1, Make a 60 second film on why we should pick you. Be yourself. Make it funny. Make it so we don’t forget it. (Yes, you can do it on your phone etc).
2, Once accepted, you have to agree to go and do a talk at your sponsors company within 1 month of the event.
3, You will need to keep a video diary, before, during, and after.
4, You have to make a film with your iPod touch provided by apple, we are looking for a film that sums up the do lectures best.
5, You will be expected to take 10 pictures that sum up the event for you.
6, You will have to interview 10 people about what the do lectures has meant for them.
Deadline: April 2nd.

The idea:
Lots of students want to come to The Do Lectures but can’t afford the ticket.
We get that.
We also understand that a great event like The Do Lectures is made up of a remarkable, driven and diverse audience. So with that in mind, it’s important that students can be a part of it too.
To help make that happen, we are after 10 companies who will buy a ticket and then give that place away to a student that we think is extraordinary.
You will buy a ‘Giving Chair’.
We will then get an artist to paint the chair. And we will put your name on the back of the chair, so everyone knows that you paid for that student to be at the event. (And it will be photographed and go into our book that will come out in September).
After the event is finished, the chair will go into the auction to raise money for The Do Lectures.
As part of the’Giving Chair’ programme, the student will come to your business and do a talk about what they learned at The Do Lectures. So your people get to learn what they have learnt too.
It’s a ‘Giving Chair’, all right.
Now we need to find some 10 Giving Companies.
Are you one?

Artists painted these wardrobes for us way back in 2004, we imagine the chairs would look a bit like this.
