The Giving Chair 2013
Last year we came up with the idea of a ‘Giving Chair’ for students.
10 ‘Giving’ companies paid for tickets and we then ‘Gave’ them to students so they could attend for Free.
It was a big success.
It helped The Do Lectures keep its diversity and, just as importantly, its energy.
This year our event is all about ‘Start-Up’. We will be giving the attendees all the tools they need to start a business. There will be 20 lectures, 20 workshops and 40 face time mentors. And the attendees will start a business whilst they are there.
And again this year, 10 Companies have made it possible for us to invite10 students to attend ‘Start-Up’ for free.
What Giving Chair Students have to do
You will have to film and photograph what you Do and the people you see at ‘Start-Up’.
You will have to speak to people and conduct interviews about what ‘Start-Up’ means to them. Attendees and speakers.
Your responsibility within the event is to record what’s happening. We’re having a ‘press lock down’ this year, so it’s on your shoulders.
You will then have to edit your film and/or photo film with interviews, and return it to us within 4 weeks of the event, so we can share your experience with your sponsor and the World.
Afterwards, you will be expected to give a talk to your sponsor company about your time at ‘Start Up’
The event will be fast, sleep will be scarce, and you will be very tired. It’ll be like the longest essay you’ve ever written, but more fun.
It’ll be the hardest but most rewarding 3 days of your life.
How to get a place
1. Send us a 60 second film or photo film on why we should pick you. Tell us about your ambition and burning idea. Tell us why you need to be there. Make it 60 seconds of absorbing viewing.
