The Do Lectures -Co Founder Don't just stand there, Do something - Dick Dastardly.

Why No Press at Do Start-up?

This Do Lectures will be different.

We are going to take peoples ideas and within 72 hours get the best ones ready to launch.

So our attendees will be sharing one of their most precious things: Their ideas. And we have to be mindful of that.

We think it should be the founders who decide when the world gets to find out about their idea, so that’s why there will be no

press at Do Start-Up.

Also, we will  be asking the attendees to ensure that they don’t share ideas on social media, out of respect for the founders, and their future business or cause.

So when you enter The Do Start-Up, there will be a line that says:

“No press beyond this point”.

That just seems the right thing to do for this one.

Patron Wanted

For the last 3 years we were lucky to have been sponsored by the country that we live in: wales.

(Big gratitude to Wales for helping us at the start, when there only a bunch of dreams)

We wanted to show that Wales was a small clever country that could attract the brightest minds on planet earth.

And we have been successful at doing that. Long way to go though.

The Guardian voted The Do Lectures in the top 10 ideas festivals in the world, so apart from not being a festival, it is nice to know we are on track.

People still find it hard to define us. So do we. People say we are like Ted, then they come and say we are not like Ted at all.

But The Do Lectures is not an event, or a conference. It is an experience that will stay with you all the life.

It may be small, tiny compared to others but by heck, there is nothing like it.

But as our contract with Wales has come to an end, we are looking for a patron to help protect it, to keep it special, and to maintain its importance in this world.

The next 5 years are exciting ones.

There will be the launch of the Do series of books, there will be more Do Lectures around the world, there will be apps built, they may be a festival and even a school one

day.

The reason to start this thing was that great, awkward, disruptive ideas change the world. They make this world a better place to be.

And that is a good thing to keep going, to share more of those ideas, to

help accelerate that change we want to see in the world.

So if you want to help, please let us know.

Best

Money Ball changed Baseball. Sam Bell is changing Social Media.

Here’s the deal. I thought I was pretty good at Social Media. Then Sam Bell came over for a month to help The Do Lectures, and I quickly learnt that I knew next to nothing. I was doing it. But what I wasn’t thinking.

I had no clear strategy. And, when I had great results, it was mostly down to luck. But what Sam has taught me has been invaluable, important and will help us for years to come.

I urge anyone who is involved anyone in the Social Media world to sign up to her Do Workshop in London. November 15th. 9.30am-5pm. More info onhttp://dolectures.com/do-workshops/

At the same time

as Sam was over here, I was reading Money Ball. A book about thinking differently about baseball. Basically they had been measuring the wrong data for 70 years. And someone came along and said you are measuring the wrong thing. This data is the thing. This data determines the result. And that insight changed

baseball.

That is what it felt when Sam started explaining how to be strategic about social media, how to think up a plan for growth, and how to execute on that plan. I was blown away. I had been working hard at it for years. But I had been working dumb on it for years. Then Boom, Sam explains her insights.

Sign up folks. It will pay you back for years to come.

It’s Money Ball for Social Media.

10 rules of disruption.

1, Find something that matters to you. Start a business to change it.

2, Profit is good. Profit and purpose are better.

3, People with a mission have a far greater

energy than those who don’t.

4, Don’t listen to people within the industry that you buy cialis online are about to change. They only know the way it is done now. And they will not benefit from the change.

5, New technologies are good. But they need an idea. Always.

6, Embrace the counter intuitive.

7, Those who have the most to lose will become your biggest enemy. They will resist you, ridicule and in the end, try to copy you.

8, Use the media. David Versus Goliath always makes for a good story.

9, Purpose scales well. But you will have to learn to use your limited resources: money, time, and energy.

10, You are flying solo. There are no maps to take you where you are going to. Trust your instinct.

Do “Start-Up” April 25-28th. Wales.

72 hours of disruptive thinking that will help you to start something that matters.
